Itinerary

DAY 1 - Airport to Dambulla / Sigiriya

  • Meet and Greet at the Airport
  • Proceed to Dambulla/Sigiriya – two UNESCO World Heritage Sites
  • En route visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, home to approx 60 elephants. Watch the baby elephants play and bathe in the river; watch them being fed
  • Reach Dambulla and check in at Hotel
  • Evening climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress enjoying magnificent views, visit the Frescoes inside the fortress and be marveled by the wonder of this ancient “cloud swept city”. Sigiriya (The Lion Rock), also known as the ‘Palace and Fortress in the sky’, was built by King Kassapa (477 – 495 AD). Sigiriya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rising 200 meters vertically from the flat pains, Sigiriya Rock provides you with one of the most dramatic sites in Sri Lanka.
  • Return to hotel for overnight Sigiriya.

DAY 2 - Dambulla/ Sigiriya to Kandy

  • Breakfast at Hotel
  • Excursion to Polonnaruwa, the other ancient city in Sri-Lanka’s so called “Cultural Triangle”. The awe inspiring architecture, rock carvings and murals of this ancient kingdom is reflective of its intriguing history. Notable sites include The Citadel, which are the remains of the Royal Palace, The Quadrangle of temples and shrines.
  • Optional visit to Polonnaruwa Museum
  • Optional visit to Hiriwadunna village – experience the charm & simplistic beauty of this archetypal village

DAY 3 - Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

  • Breakfast at Hotel and
  • Journey up through the hills, passing waterfalls (Ramboda Falls), pine and eucalyptus forests and vast green tea estates. Many optional photo stops en-route.
  • Visit a tea factory, where you will not only enjoy a cup of freshly brewed Ceylon tea but will also have the opportunity to witness the intricacies involved in its manufacturing process.
  • By late afternoon, reach Nuwara Eliya, the “city above the clouds” at 1980m above sea level. A golf course, race course for horse racing, English country style cottages and planters bungalows are all witnesses of its colonial past.
  • Check in at hotel – relax at leisure

DAY 4 - Trincomalee to Pasikudah

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Proceed to Pasikudah
  • Pasikuda beach, recognized as one of safest beaches in Sri Lanka, the sea is visualized with crystal clear water.
  • Especially Pasikudah beach is appropriate for the beginners in water surfing. Surfing the waves, pulling off cool techniques, jumping high off the wave and spinning in the air are attractive.

DAY 5 - Nuwara Eliya to Udawalawe

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Proceed to Udawalawe
  • Evening Safari at Udawalawe National Park
  • It is most famous for the many elephants that live there (about 400 in total). During a visit, it is not unusual to see whole herds of adults and young elephants– feeding or bathing and playing in the water! In addition to this main attraction, the park is home to many water buffalo, water monitor lizards, sambar deer, monkeys and the occasional leopard, as well as being an exciting location for bird enthusiasts.

DAY 6 -Udawalawe to Bentota/ Beruwala

  • Breakfast at Hotel
  • Optional visit to Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe
  • Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home is a refuge for baby elephants, the majority of which have been affected by the tragic elephant – human conflict (when mothers are often separated from their young or even killed). This incredible project provides food, medical care, and anything else a baby elephant needs.  When the elephants are big and strong enough, they are released back into the wilderness to start living a ‘normal’ elephant life. Easily accessible from Udawalawe National Park itself, visitors can go to the Elephant Transit Centre at specific times in the day to enjoy the feeding hour, when the small elephants rush to drink milk and play with their mates.
  • Proceed to Bentota/ Beruwala

DAY 7 - Bentota / Beruwala

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Whole day relax and enjoy the beach
  • Bentota also forms the “Sun & Fun” water sport capital of Sri Lanka with a gamut of activates from snorkeling/scuba diving along the Barberyn reef running very close to the shore or to a distant ship wreck operated by PADI qualified instructors, wind surfing along the coast is sheer exhilaration as nothing beats the powerless cruise along the water, water skiing along the river dragged by an experienced boater, or for the speed freaks the jet ski along the river or if you want a bit more adventure in the squalls of the Indian Ocean.

DAY 8 - Bentota/ Beruwala to Airport Via Colombo

  • Breakfast at Hotel
  • Proceed to Colombo

Madu Ganga River safari, a boat excursion is the best way to navigate and enjoy what’s on offer at Madu ganga, a stretch of lake with almost placid water dotted with many islets. You can visit an island with a Buddhist monastery, where the friendly

  • young monks will show you a 150-year-old book made of palm leaves and how they cook on cinnamon wood on an open fire.
  • City tour of Colombo commencing with a visit to the Fort and the Pettah commercial hub with offices and shopping areas located amidst oldest colonial hotel GOH. It has a fantastic view of the Colombo harbor, lighthouse with clock tower (older than Big Ben in London) close to the president’s house and old parliament. Afterwards, proceed through the main street passing the old Dutch Museum, belfry and old City Hall which houses puppets of earlier governors of Sri Lanka.
  • Stop will be made at the Old Dutch hospital with shops and restaurants facing Sri Lanka’s twin tower buildings. Continue to the old race course with a maze of buildings with colonial architecture, restaurants and shopping arcade passing through Colombo City Hall (mini replica of the White House in Washington, DC)
