Day
Route :

: The Royal temple complex , of which the temple of the tooth was just one part, includes the Audience hall, the National & the Archaeological Museum and the Queen”s bath house ( ulpenge) just by the lakeside. During the month of July/August, Kandy dazzles with the sounds and lights of the Esala Perahera , a festival held over 10 days. Walk the three temples loop or have your driver take you Lanka Thilekke Vihara, the Embekke temple, known for its magnificent carved wooden pillars and the Gadaladeniya Vihara, which is built on a hilltop in the 14th century. All three temples are pre-dating the city of Kandy itself. If you prefer to visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, go in the afternoon, as most tourist groups are visiting in the morning before continuing by bus to Nuwara Eliya. The main attractions are the stately Royal Palm Avenue, the Coco de Mer, a giant fig tree, rare bamboo and palm tree species as well as delicate orchids. Kandy is also the undisputed centre for arts and crafts and home of the famous Kandyan dancers do not miss a performance at the local theatre.

Day
Route :

Today the most spectacular train ride awaits you. The track climbs slowly through pine and eucalyptus forest into a landscape of manicured tea plantations which open up to reveal stunning view through the hills and peaks, especially near Dimbula , at the centre of the tea growing area, where the track passes high above a canyon-like valley between towering cliffs. You journey to Nanu Oya, the station closest to Nuwara Eliya, where the driver will await you. Nuwara Eliya, the highest town of the island, lies in the heart of the hill country. It is situated at the foothills of the Pidurutalagala, at 2524m the highest mountain of the island! The city above the clouds”, as it is often referred to , represents Little England”, a Victorian relic, with a park, lake, colonial hotels and quaint old bungalows, the race course and of course the hilly 18-hole golf course right in the centre of it!

Day
Route :

Morning drive by jeep to Horton Plains. The highland plateau of Horton Plains National Park lies about 2100m above sea level ; 3 of the main rivers of the island originate from here. Giant ferns dominate the scenery, which is the main attraction. Arrive early as the winds might blow in mist and rain around noon. The most popular hike is a 9 km roundtrip to the spectacular World”s end, a sheer precipice with a sudden 1000m drop. The return path takes you via Baker”s Falls , the perfect place to cool your tired feet. Be prepared for a 4 hour walk, you are going to love it! Mostly Deer but also monkeys, otter, giant squirrel and many bird species are found on the grassland and forests of these highlands. Return to your comfortable hotel, relax in the afternoon and enjoy high tea served in the hotel garden.

The popular Ravana Falls ( 25m) and the caves, both named after the legendary king demon king Ravana, who is said to have kidnapped princess Sita and to have hidden her in the Ravana Ella Caves, are a ideal spots for a walk in the pleasant hillcountry climate. 98 Acres Resort gets its striking name from the land on which it has been builta scenic tea estate on ninety-eight acres of land in fascinating Ella. The colonial era in Ceylon saw this tea estate being larger in extent, owned and managed by a Britisher and famously known as the “Southerland tea estate”. Take a walk in the plantation with the resident tea expert during plucking time and admire the deft plucking of the standard “two leaves and a bud”.
